Before you make any kind of investment for your home, it’s always a good idea to do some thorough research first so you know you’re making the right decisions and that what you’re buying will be right for you and your family.
If you’re considering investing in synthetic lawns at the moment, here are some of the most frequently asked questions we get here at Prestige Lawns to help you work out if fake grass is the product for you. If you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
How long does fake grass last for?
A good quality lawn can last for years if it’s looked after properly and depending on what it is used for. If it’s for sports, for example, it can last around ten years but if it’s for a residential garden, you can expect it to last for a lot longer than that.
Is the turf eco-friendly?
If you’re keen to be green at home, fake grass is a great option because it doesn’t need to be watered like regular grass, so you’re not using resources in this way and you also won’t need to use any weed killers or chemical fertilisers to keep it in good health.
What can you use artificial grass for?
There are all sorts of applications for this kind of product, whether you want to spruce up your outdoor areas at home without having to make the commitment that real grass demands or if you want to create an all-weather surface for sports.
How do you look after a fake grass lawn?
One serious benefit of fake lawn installation is that it requires an awful lot less work to maintain than a real lawn will, so you can enjoy your garden without nearly as much effort.
All you need to do is invest in a stiff brush and give the turf a clean regularly to get rid of any debris and leaves, especially at this time of year. You may also want to give it a hose down from time to time if it gets particularly dirty.
Can artificial turf get waterlogged?
There’s no need to worry that you’ll wake up to a flooded garden after a heavy night of rainfall, since fake grass is permeable, which means that any water will just flow straight through it. You will need to fit a drainage base under the levelling layer, however.
Can you BBQ on artificial grass?
Never place grills or barbecues directly on fake grass surfaces. Always make sure your barbecue is set up on a fireproof surface, whether that’s your patio or a paving slab. Make sure it’s stable and level to help prevent accidents and reduce the chances of fat and oil being spilled and splashing on your grass.
