With the amount of snow we’ve had recently, it’s hard to believe that spring is creeping upon us. However, now that we are in March we’re hoping the spring weather is going to greet us and start getting warmer so that we can get our spring garden ready! Below, we’ve shared a few of our top tips for decorating a spring garden that’ll be perfect for BBQs and garden parties.
Pick Your Theme
Before you do anything with your garden, pick a theme. Do you want a very traditional English garden? Would you prefer it to look a little more exotic and tropical? Is modern and simple more your style? Once you’ve picked your garden’s theme, it’ll be a lot easier to start deciding what you need to do with it and what colours you need.
Pick the Right Flowers
What’s a pretty spring garden without pretty spring flowers? Find flowers that thrive in spring, or all year round. Don’t make the mistake of choosing flowers that prefer to bloom in winter where there’s lots of shade and cold weather. Layer plants with different varieties such as hanging baskets, potted plants or create a flower bed.
Freshen Up Your Furniture
With the winter we’ve had, it’s likely to have affected any outdoor furniture you own. Take a look at it and see if anything needs repairing or replacing. If you have wooden furniture, one of our favourite decorating ideas for a spring garden is to paint it a brighter colour; white and pastel colours are perfect ways to brighten up your outdoor space when painting furniture. Add a bit of comfort too with some new cushions for your furniture.
Decorations
Add a bit of character to your garden with different decorations. Lights are perfect for spring nights; we particularly like fairy lights draped across the fence or a few grounded lights to light up a pathway. We’re not always blessed with the warmest of spring nights in England, so why not decorate your garden with a firepit?
