What is a Shockpad?

Why Do You Need Shock Padding?

Performance: On sports fields, shock pads enhance the playing surface by ensuring consistent ball bounce and reducing strain on athletes’ joints. This creates a safer and more enjoyable playing experience.

Comfort: A shockpad provides a softer, more cushioned surface, making it more comfortable to play or walk on artificial grass.

Durability: Shockpads extend the lifespan of artificial grass by reducing wear and tear. As a result, you’ll experience fewer repairs and replacements over time.

Shock padding comes in various types, each suited to different applications:

10mm Underlay: This thinner underlay works well in sports or play areas where critical fall heights are not the main concern. However, it still offers a good level of shock absorption. The 10mm underlay strikes a balance between cushioning and firmness, making it ideal for sports fields, recreational areas, and play zones where safety is important, but falls from significant heights are less likely.

25mm Shock Pad: This thicker shock pad is designed for areas where meeting critical fall heights is essential, such as playgrounds. The 25mm thickness offers superior cushioning, providing maximum safety in environments where falls are more frequent.

Laying the Shock Pad: Next, unroll the shock pad sheets onto the prepared surface. Lay the sheets side by side, with edges closely aligned. If you’re using interlocking puzzle-shaped sheets, connect the pieces securely.

Securing the Pad: In some environments, you may need to secure the shock pad to the ground with adhesive or ground stakes. This step is particularly important in areas with high foot traffic or significant movement on the artificial grass.

Installing Artificial Grass: After securing the shockpad, install the artificial grass on top. Stretch and secure the grass properly to avoid wrinkles or uneven areas.

Final Inspection: Finally, inspect the entire surface to ensure the shockpad is evenly distributed and the artificial grass is securely in place. Make any necessary adjustments to ensure a smooth and safe surface.
